Notts County are set to name experienced midfielder Alan Smith as their caretaker manager, according to Sky Sources.
The 36-year old is set to be named the Magpies’ caretaker boss, after John Sheridan resigned after their 4-0 defeat at Cambridge United on Monday, which marked their 9th successive defeat in League Two.
The former Manchester United and Leeds United forward turned midfielder has made 59 appearances for the East Midlands side, since arriving from MK Dons in 2014.
Notts have appointed 10 different permanent managers ever since Steve Cotterill led the side to League One in 2010, a staggering amount of managers for any club in the 72.
On the pitch, the Magpies sit 22nd in the League Two table, just 1 point above the drop zone to the National League.
So…What do you think Notts fans? Would you like to see Alan Smith get the job on a permanent basis? Who would you like to see take the job on a permanent basis? Leave your thoughts and suggestions in the comments below!
