Notts County have held talks with former Bury and Barnsley manager David Flitcroft over the vacant managerial role, Nottingham Post claims.
Flitcroft was relieved of his duties by the Shakers in November, and recently held talks with the Magpies’ new owner Alan Hardy at his golf club in Nottingham.
Hardy finally completed the takeover of the Meadow Lane club on Wednesday afternoon, and is looking to appoint a manager before Saturday’s clash with local rivals Mansfield Town.
Flitcroft led Bury to promotion from League Two in the 2014/15 campaign, and has sustained them as a League One club, and also guided Barnsley away from the Championship relegation zone in 2013/14.
On the pitch, the Magpies’ sit in a disappointing 22nd place in the League Two table, just 2 points above the drop zone to the National League.
