Nottingham Forest are interested in striker Jean-Kevin Augustin who is currently on loan at French side Monaco from RB Leipzig.

The French striker, who has been capped at U21 level by his country, has endured a tough time with the Ligue 1 outfit this season, failing to score in ten league games.

Therefore, Monaco may be open to letting the player go, although it will obviously need to be agreed with his parent club as well, which shouldn't be a problem.

And, French media outlet Foot Mercato have revealed that Forest are keen on the player but they will have to see off competition from Leeds to land the 22-year-old.

Augustin emerged as a bright talent for PSG before securing a move to Leipzig and he enjoyed a strong first season in the Bundesliga, weighing in with nine goals in 25 games.

However, his second season wasn't as productive, with the striker hitting just three goals in 17 league fixtures and he was loaned out to Monaco in the summer as a result. Many of his appearances this season have come from the bench.

Where did these 15 Nottingham Forest players sign from?

The verdict

This would be a real coup for either Championship side as just a few years ago Augustin was considered as one of the top talents in Europe.

Even though his progress has stalled somewhat in the past 18 months, you still have to remember that he is 22 and has so much quality.

Importantly, he has the physique to cope with English football and he would be a fantastic addition to the Forest squad.

Bringing in a striker has to be the priority before the deadline and it will be interesting to see if they can tie this one up.
