Premier League new boys Norwich City have joined in the race for Chesterfield winger Sam Clucas, reports HITC Sport.

Wigan are the favourites to sign Clucas
Clucas is wanted by Norwich City

The Spireites are set to be rocked by another big bid for their star player as newly promoted Norwich are set to test the club's resolve for the player with a £1.5 million bid.

Chesterfield have already rejected two bids from fellow League One side Wigan Athletic, who recently offered £700,000 up front with £300,000 in add-ons, but that was turned down flat by the Derbyshire outfit.

FLW understands that Wigan have now withdraw the race and Championship side Cardiff City are still interested in signing the winger and now may compete with Norwich for the former Mansfield Town man.

Known for being a versatile player, Clucas can play a varied amount of different positions and has featured on various occasions at left back for Chesterfield last season. Although playing in different positions, Clucas has still performed well in the league, scoring 12 goals in 49 appearances.

The 24-year-old only joined the club last summer from Mansfield, signing a three year deal in the process, but could see a rapid rise to fame if Norwich are to pursue their intended interest.
