Newcastle United are having the season that everyone expected and find themselves comfortably sitting in the automatic promotion places.

The Magpies currently sit 1 point ahead of Brighton at the top of the league, however, Brighton do have a game in hand and could leapfrog Newcastle should they win that game.

Newcastle take on The Championship's bottom club Rotherham United this weekend so they will be keen to avoid any complacency and get the job done.

There have been plenty of rumours banded about speculating on who is on Rafa Benitez's wanted list this month with the likes of Andros Townsend rumoured to be returning to the club.

One market that Benitez could look to exploit this month is the Scottish Premier League, where many footballing talents are currently plying their trade.

This article is going to take a look at two players that The Magpies should be taking an in depth look at this month...

Jozo Simunovic

22-year-old centre back Jozo Simunovic looks to be a real hot prospect and is someone that Newcastle could look to help grow and develop as a player, as he has undoubted talent.

Simunovic is a big commanding presence at the back - he is calm and composed and breeds confidence throughout the rest of the team when he is playing.

AdTech Ad Before signing for Celtic back in 2015, the Croatian represented Dinamo Zagreb for whom he made close to 100 appearances.

Since signing for Celtic, his first team opportunities have been somewhat limited and he has only managed 35 appearances for the Bhoys.

His potential has been recognised at international level by Croatia for whom he has been capped right the way from under-17 level to under-21 level, and will no doubt be harbouring hopes of a senior call up one day - something that a move to England would greatly help with.

Tom Rogic

Another player that Newcastle could look at is play-maker Tom Rogic.

Last season, Rogic made 39 appearances for The Bhoys in all competitions, netting a very respectable 10 goals in the process.

AdTech Ad Rogic is not blessed with the greatest pace, but what he lacks in speed he makes up for with an excellent footballing brain and technical ability to match.

The midfielder is tall, strong and is someone who can really dominate the midfield battle and dictate the tempo of play.

He is also a vital cog in the Australian national team and has been capped 23 times by the Socceroos, bagging 5 goals in the process.

At just the age of 24, Rogic has plenty of time to progress and develop as a footballer and that is something that a move to England would certainly help him with.
