Newcastle United have joined Liverpool in the race to land highly-rated Coventry City defender Cian Harries, according to reports from the Chronicle.
Rafa Benitez had scouts watch the 19-year old play in the Sky Blues’ 3-0 win over Brighton in the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday night, after being recalled from his trial at Anfield.
Harries has displayed his talent in 15 appearances for Russell Slade’s men this term, and was watched closely by the Magpies and the men from Merseyside.
The versatile defender has performed well at the Ricoh Arena since being chucked into the deep end by Slade, in what has been a torrid season for City, and also featured a few times for Cheltenham Town last term in their promotion winning campaign.
The Sky Blues currently sit in 23rd position in Sky Bet League One after a horrendous season which has seen them pick up a mere four wins from 25 league games.
So…What do you think Newcastle fans? What do you already know of Cian Harries? Do you think he can be a real prospect in the future? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
