Aston Villa’s season is going from bad to worse, as Steve Bruce’s side continue to slide towards the relegation zone in the Sky Bet Championship.

Following a disastrous Premier League campaign last year, resulting in relegation, many of the Villa faithful had hoped this season would see a promotion push.

Roberto Di Matteo was handed the task of returning Villa to the top-fight, but after a poor start to the season, lost his job in October and was subsequently replaced by Bruce.

January was a big month for the club, with Bruce recruiting heavily to strengthen Villa’s chances of making a late push for the Championship Play-Off places.

Villa now sit 17th in the table, just six-points above the relegation zone, and have lost five consecutive matches.

Despite their lowly league position, Villa still have some quality individuals.

Here is a look at TWO players who are sure to be in demand during the summer transfer window…

Jonathan Kodjia

Kodjia joined Villa from Bristol City last summer, for a record transfer fee in the Championship.

The Ivory Coast international missed part of the season, whilst representing his country at the African Cup of Nations, despite this he is still Villa’s top goal scorer.

The striker has found the net 11 times this season, but has been deployed on the left at times this campaign, following the arrival of Scott Hogan from Brentford.

Hogan suffered a serious ankle injury in a recent defeat to Newcastle, which could see Kodjia handed the responsibility of leading the line again.

Villa won’t want to lose Kodjia in the summer, but with the striker showing good form in an underperforming team, he is sure to attract interest from clubs.

Ross McCormack

McCormack was another high-profile summer addition, although he has failed to make the same impression as Kodjia at Villa Park.

The Scottish international is currently out on-loan with Championship rivals Nottingham Forest, following a public falling out with Bruce.

Villa are likely to prefer losing McCormack to Kodjia in the summer transfer window, and with the recent addition of Hogan, could listen to offers for the striker.

McCormack has a brilliant record in the Championship, scoring over 100 goals during spells with Cardiff, Leeds and Fulham.

Despite having a season to forget, McCormack is still a talented forward in the second-tier. If Villa decide he is surplus to requirements, there is sure to be a long line of clubs after his signature.
