Nottingham Forest midfielder Adlene Guedioura is in talks with Al Kuwait over a move to the Kuwaiti side, Le Buteur have reported.

It is thought that talks between the player and his potential new club are at an 'advanced stage', meaning it could now be unlikely that the midfielder will return to the City Ground.

Geudioura is currently away on Africa Cup of Nations duty with Algeria, where he and his international teammates are preparing for Friday's final with Senegal, with the 33-year-old having played the full 90 minutes of his country's 2-1 semi-final win over Nigeria on Sunday.

Having originally joined Forest from Wolves on loan in January 2012, the Algerian made his move to the City Ground permanent the following summer, before leaving the club for Crystal Palace in September 2013. The midfielder then spent time with Watford and Middlesbrough, before Guedioura rejoined Forest in January 2018.

Across his multiple spells at The City Ground, Guedioura has made exactly 100 appearances in all competitions for the club, scoring six goals.

There are just 12 months remaining on Guediora's current contract with Forest.

The Verdict

I think this is probably the best move for all parties.

With the new signings Forest have made in the centre of midfield this summer, you imagine that Guedioura will be set to slide down the pecking order at the City Ground, so a move to somewhere such as Al Kuwait could suit him both financially and in terms of game time.

Taking that into consideration, it probably suits Forest to move Guedioura along as well, clearing space in the wage budget and making sure they receive some form of fee for him while they still can, with his contract set to expire in 12 months time.

There have already been a number of players either to be linked with or confirmed as leaving the club in the summer as they look to build a squad capable of challenging for promotion next season, so Guedioura's departure probably won't be the biggest surprise of the summer transfer window if it does indeed go through.
