Nathan Jones is on the brink of being reappointed as Luton Town's manager according to The Telegraph.

Jones had previously guided the Hatters to promotion into the Championship before moving to Stoke City in January 2019.

But his time with Stoke City wasn't an enjoyable spell for Jones, with the Potters struggling for any sort of consistency in their bid for survival in the Championship.

Luton Town have been on a search for a new manager, after parting company with Graeme Jones last month, as the club cited financial reasons behind his departure.

The Hatters are currently struggling to stay afloat in the second tier standings, and find themselves sat 23rd in the table, and six points adrift of safety with nine matches remaining in this year's campaign.

However, that survival bid has been put on hold for the time being due to the off-the-field crisis which has disrupted sporting events across the UK.

The Telegraph also report that Jones could be at Luton's training ground as early as Thursday, as the club look to get a deal in place to bring him back to the club.

The Verdict:

I think this is a smart appointment by Luton if they can get an agreement in place in the near future.

Jones is a manager that knows the club well, and I was surprised to see him depart when he did earlier in his managerial career in favour of a move to Stoke City.

His time with the Potters was one to forget, and Jones will be hoping that he can silence some of his critics from that spell in charge of Stoke.

If he can guide Luton to safety in the Championship, then he deserves an enormous amount of credit, and I think it's a task that he's more than capable of achieving.
