Preston North End are among a cluster of Championship sides weighing up a move for out-of-favour Rangers winger Jordan Jones, as per TeamTalk.

The likes of QPR, Blackburn and Stoke are also keen on the 25-year-old who has struggled for game-time at Ibrox since arriving from Kilmarnock back in 2019.

Jones made just six appearances in the 2019/20 season for Rangers, and is now set to depart the Scottish outfit.

So, would the pacey winger be a good addition to Alex Neil's Preston? Do they need him?

The team here at FLW take a look....

I think that this has potential to be a good signing for Preston.

Jones was superb for Kilmarnock last season and showed glimpses of becoming one of the best wingers in the SPFL, and I think there's real talent and potential in there despite a disappointing spell at Ibrox thus far.

He made only seven appearances in the SPFL in 2019/20 so his lack of game time and match sharpness could be a problem, but with a full pre-season under his belt he could thrive at Deepdale under Alex Neil.

North End have strikers such as Jayden Stockley who thrive on balls being put into the box, and an industrious winger like Jones who likes to get to the byline with his pace and deliver crosses into the area could really help him fire in the goals next season.

North End have a plethora of attacking midfielders who have contributed to plenty of goals this season, and Jones could really flourish in Neil's fast-paced, high-intensity style of play. He's only 25, and a move to Preston could be beneficial for him.

Have these 9 things happened to Preston North End this season? Have a go now!

This looks like it would be a smart bit of business for Preston.

Jones' time at Rangers hasn't gone the way that either he or the club will have wanted so far so a fresh start elsewhere could be just what he needs to kick-start his career.

The winger had a really impressive few years at Kilmarnock, so if Preston can prize him away from Rangers for a cheap fee and get him back to that level this would be an excellent move.

Lots of the Championship clubs goals came from midfield last season, which is obviously very useful but I do think they could do with more threat in the final third.

Landing Jones could help them do just that and doesn't seem to be a move that will prove too costly.

At 25, he looks a safe investment and someone that won't lose his value anytime soon.

He could be.

You've got a manager in Alex Neil that will have a keen eye on the Scottish game and developments up there so he'll have been watching the Jones situation without doubt.

He excelled at Kilmarnock but fell off of the wagon a little at Rangers and will want to prove himself once more.

If Neil feels as though he can get a tune out of him, he could well be a decent arrival at Deepdale and certainly one to watch next season.

It's a big if at the moment, though, with several sides looking at him and we could see a bit of a scrap for his signature. After a decent season for North End, though, they'll be looking to build something special and that should be what Neil looks to use as a bargaining chip to bring Jones in.
