Mateusz Bogusz continued his rise in stock after scoring Poland under-21s’ only goal in a win over Serbia last night.

The Polish youngster has massively impressed since signing for Leeds in January. Despite barely featuring for the first-team, Bogusz has featured heavily for Leeds’ under-23 side, and earned himself call-ups to Poland’s under-21 team recently. This has culminated in playing a key role for the youth-side, scoring the winner in their match against Serbia.

Bogusz took to

Bogusz also played a key role in Leeds’ pre-season campaign, with Bielsa keen to test the depth of his squad by experimenting with youth players, as Bogusz scored a brilliant goal against Western Sydney Wanderers, which was incidentally the first-ever goal at the new Bankwest Stadium.

Bogusz signed after impressing for Polish second-tier side, Ruch Chorzow, whilst only 17-years-old at the time. His displays have called for a lot to see his inclusion in more matchday squads for Leeds, after being named on the bench on multiple occasions.

Bogusz’s fellow countryman, teammate and namesake, Mateusz Klich, has been someone particularly effusive in his praise of the youngster when he had this to say to Leeds Live back in March: “Yeah, we talk. When he trains with us I always try to help him It’s not like I can give him any advice because he’s 17 and going to probably be better than me! If he needs anything, I am here for him. I’m very curious about him because he looks like a good player.”

The Verdict

Mateusz Bogusz is continuing to impress for club and country in 2019, and while he is still only 18-years-old, he definitely has the potential to make it at Leeds as a key player and then for his country.

Leeds definitely have a gem on their hands, having only signed the Pole as a prospect and not commanding a marquee fee.
