Leeds United are set to open talks with Bristol Rovers manager Darrell Clarke, after negotiations with MK Dons boss Karl Robinson broke down, according to Sky Sports.

Steve Evans is the current manager at Elland Road and has been since October, but the trigger happy chairman is expected to sack him as the club prepare for next season.

Leeds first opened negotiations with MK Dons manager Karl Robinson about replacing him, but Robinson who's MK Dons side was relegated this season, rejected the chance in favour of staying at the Dons.

Not many managers have a good working relationship with the controversial Leeds chairman as he tends to sack them without a fair chance.

Uwe Rosler was manager at the start of the season but was promptly sacked after a slow start, Evans has steadied the ship bringing stability and blooding the youngsters but it doesn't seem likely he will be there next season.

Leeds are targeting promotion next season and have some good young players like Lewis Cook and Alex Mowatt, and must build the team around them, but also must strengthen the weak defence.

But after Robinson rejected the job, Cellino will move on to his next target Bristol Rovers manager Darrell Clarke who has led them to consecutive promotions and will be in League One next season.

Robinson who led the MK Dons to promotion will stay there with Cellino still having a number of viable options, if he chooses to sack Evans.
