The Football League has given Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino permission to attend the club's final game of the season against Rotherham United on Saturday.

Cellino will attend the Rotherham United match

Cellino's ban from running or exerting control at Leeds does not expire until the day after the Rotherham game, but the club's request for the Italian to watch the match has been granted.

However the Yorkshire Evening Post reports that Cellino is yet to decide whether to go to Saturday's game or the club's awards night later that evening.

The Football League said that the controversial figure would only be permitted to be present at both events “on the basis that he is attending as a spectator only.”

When asked by the Yorkshire Evening Post if he would attend Saturday’s match, Cellino said: “I don’t know. I haven’t decided.

“The Football League say I’m allowed to go but I don’t know what I’ll do. I need a clear head and I need to start again with everything next week. I’m not decided.”

Cellino lost his appeal against the Football League's decision to disqualify him as club owner in January following his conviction for tax evasion in Italy.

The League ruled that the Italian had failed its owners and directors test after he had been found guilty of failing to pay import tax on his yacht.

Cellino's ban was initially until April 10 but was extended until May 3 after the League ruled he had also failed to disclose the Italian court's judgement on his tax case.

Leeds United look to put an awful season on-and-off the pitch season behind them which has seen numerous embarrassing and confusing stories for the club, including six players withdrawing from the latest game against Charlton for no apparent reason, Neil Redfearn's assistant Steve Thompson being suspended and Redfearn's future in doubt, even after saving Leeds United from the drop.
