Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk has sent a message on Instagram after making his first-team debut against Hull City last night.

The 20-year-old came on to replace Helder Costa in the 91st minute of the Whites 2-0 win at Elland Road yesterday.

An own goal from Tigers defender Jordy de Wijs and a second goal in two games from Ezgjan Alioski made the difference as Marcelo Bielsa's side claimed the three points in a tight game to go top of the table.

The central defender joined Leeds from Dutch club Ajax in January 2018 and despite being a key performer for the U23s, had to wait until last night to make his first appearance for the senior side.

After coming on in the dying moments of the game to shore things up,

With Liam Cooper suffering from yet another injury issue, Struijk may have more opportunities to impress over the next few weeks.

However, he could face some competition from fellow academy talent Olly Casey, who made his debut against Huddersfield Town on the weekend.

The Verdict

Struijk has been talked about as someone that may breakthrough into the first-team for a while now, so it is interesting to see he has finally made his debut.

The 20-year-old was one of a number of young players to be handed new contracts at the start of the year, which indicates the club feel he has a bright future.

His Instagram post shows he is clearly passionate about the club and someone that wants to succeed at Elland Road, which Leeds fans will surely love.
