High-flying Championship side Leeds United have turned down the opportunity to sign Slovenian striker Mitja Krizan, according to TalkSport.

The 19-year-old striker who played for Slovenian side Celje in the Prva Liga was training and on trial with the West Yorkshire club.

Garry Monk may have been tempted to bring the Slovenian striker into the fold to potentially add more firepower to Leeds United's attack, however, Krizan's trial period at the Championship side proved to not be successful.

Mitja Krizan's hopes of earning himself a permanent contract at the West Yorkshire club were dashed as he failed to impress Garry Monk in the development matches that he featured in.

Instead, the 19-year-old striker has moved back to Slovenia to join Prva Liga side Drava Putj on a short-term deal.

The Yorkshire club face Neil Warnock's resurgent Cardiff City at Elland Road on Saturday, in a game which the home side will be looking to secure three points to help cement their spot in the play-offs.

Leeds United fans, what do you make of the news? Did you see Mitja Krizan in action? Was Leeds right to not offer him a contract? Could he have played a role in the run in?
