Leeds United are reportedly tracking Coventry City 19-year-old full-back Sam McCallum.

The defender has made seven appearances for the Sky Blues this season and has begun to cement his place in Mark Robins' first-team.

The teenager joined Coventry last summer, arriving from non-league side Hearn Bay.

Is this the WORST Leeds United XI from the last 15 years? We'll let YOU decide....

He impressed in the under-23s during and earned some first-team opportunities last season, making seven appearances for the senior side in total.

He has been part of Robins’ plans from the off in the 2019/20 campaign and has started four of their last five League One games.

Such has been the quality of his performances this season that he appears to have turned some heads at Elland Road.

According to the Coventry Telegraph, Leeds are currently keeping tabs on the development of the left-back.

The report also suggests that the Coventry boss is realistic and knows that the club’s business model is to produce and develop young players to sell for profit.

McCallum is not the first young Sky Blues player that the Whites have been linked to in recent years.

They were understood to be monitoring Jodi Jones closely before he suffered a cruciate injury in his knee.

The Verdict

The teenager appears to have fought his way into the Coventry first-team this season, which is impressive considering he was playing non-league football just over a year ago.

The defender has received plaudits for his performances this season, including being described as “outstanding” by former Coventry boss Greg Abbott.

It seems most likely that Leeds will continue to monitor McCallum over the season and I can’t see them moving for the player before next summer.
