Leeds United remain in touch with the top-two in the Championship as they ran out 2-1 winners of Blackburn Rovers at Elland Road.

Goals from Patrick Bamford and Jack Harrison proved to be enough for Marcelo Bielsa's side, although Derrick Williams made it a nervy finish for the Whites.

The goal was Bamford's fifth of the season in all competitions, and he'll be hoping to build on this impressive showing heading towards the festive period.

There have been plenty of calls for Bamford to be replaced by Eddie Nketiah in the starting XI for much of this year's league campaign, but with the Arsenal loanee now out of action through injury, it's the perfect opportunity for Bamford to step up and perform to a high standard.

The 26-year-old took to Instagram following the win over Blackburn and praised the Elland Road faithful for their support on the day.

Bamford and his Leeds team-mates are next in action against Luton Town after the international break, where they'll be keen to keep up the pressure on league leaders West Brom with a positive result at Kenilworth Road.

The Verdict:

This will certainly give Bamford a much-needed confidence boost heading into the international break.

He's not been at his best in front of goal, and you have to feel that it was only a matter of time before Eddie Nketiah replaced him in the starting XI.

But with the Arsenal loanee out injured, the goal on Saturday has come at the perfect time for Bamford, who will know that he will have to be at the top of his game to keep Leeds within touching distance of the promotion-chasing sides in the Championship this term.
