Preston North End, Leeds United, and Sheffield Wednesday are amongst a queue of Championship clubs vying for the signature of Middlesborough forward David Nugent, according to the Northern Echo.
The 31-year-old has not started a game in the league this season for Aitor Karanka’s men, and the last of his four substitute outings was at Everton on the 17th of September.
A deal is open for Nugent to move away from the Riverside Stadium in January if the fee was right, opening the door for the likes of Leeds and former club Preston.
Nugent scored 34 times in 94 games for Preston, in his three year spell at Deepdale, and would be a key asset for Simon Grayson’s men, who sit 11th in the Championship table.
Leeds, however, are looking for another striker in January, fearing that they lose Chris Wood due to a hamstring injury, making Nugent the perfect addition to Garry Monk’s men, who sit 5th in the league standings.
So… What do you think Preston and Leeds fans? Would David Nugent be a good signing for your club? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
