Sheffield Wednesday caretaker boss Lee Bullen has said Dominic Iorfa has endured a frustrating start to the season having been suspended for the Owls' opening two matches.

The defender was sent off against Preston North End in Wednesday's penultimate game of last season, which meant his three-match ban extended into the first two matches of the new campaign.

Iorfa was forced to watch from the sidelines as his Owls teammates secured a back-to-back wins to kick off the campaign, with Bullen's side following up their opening day success over Reading with a win against Barnsley last time out.

The 24-year-old was a key player for the club in the second half of last season following his move from Wolves, as he was a regular in the Wednesday side that climbed out of relegation danger to challenge for the play-offs.

Bullen has now claimed - as reported by the Wednesday Twitter - that the right-back is desperate to get back on to the pitch to help his teammates this campaign, after being frustrated watching from the sidelines so far this term.

"Iorfa has been a frustrated figure in the stands so far this season, he just wants to get out there and help the lads," Bullen told the club's Twitter account.

The verdict

Iorfa will give Wednesday a further boost when he returns from his suspension this weekend, and he will be eager to impress on his return to help maintain the club's unbeaten start.

The defender was one of the key men during Wednesday's revival last season, and I'm sure Bullen will be lining him up for a starring role again this term.

There will be a feel-good atmosphere around Wednesday at the moment following their fine start to the season, which was unexpected following Steve Bruce's exit so close to the season starting.

Iorfa's return will only work in Wednesday's favour as he will be raring to go on Saturday and should add further quality to the side if he starts.
