Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has a big decision to make ahead of his side's match against Birmingham City this weekend, on whether to stick with striker Patrick Bamford or opt for on-loan forward Eddie Nketiah, who is in fine form following a hat-trick whilst on international duty for England u21's.

Bielsa has not given the Arsenal youngster a start so far in the league, choosing to use him as an impact sub from the bench, but with the Whites needing to get their automatic promotion charge back on track, it could be time to give him a start.

So who should get the nod against Birmingham, Bamford or Nketiah?

We discuss........

Liam Drury

"Leeds fans are becoming increasingly frustrated with Bielsa’s constant selection of Patrick Bamford over Eddie Nketiah so far this campaign as Leeds try and chase promotion.

"Bamford has struggled to hit the net so far this season, having scored four goals in his 11 appearances so far. Nketiah on the other hand has scored four goals in his nine appearances in all competitions since signing on loan, matching Bamford’s goal ratio.

"Bamford is more of a creative striker, somebody who won’t always get on the scoresheet but can create for the players around him while Nketiah is a more natural goalscorer, the player that Leeds need to lead the line.

"Therefore, I believe that Nketiah should be the player who leads the line for Leeds this weekend when they face Birmingham. Nketiah has it in him to start notching the goals for Leeds, and if he can get a start against Birmingham, he’ll be in the mood to prove a point to the manager."

Louie Chandler

"I would find it hard to justify dropping Bamford.

"It is a really tricky one. You think Nketiah should be playing because of how well he does from the bench, but I don't think Bamford has done enough to warrant being dropped.

"It is harsh on Nketiah because at any other club he'd have earnt a starting spot but under Bielsa things are never as straight forward.

"He clearly believes Bamford suits his system more and I think Leeds fans need to keep the faith."

"I'm really not sure about this. Bielsa seems to prefer Bamford at the moment so I think he'll probably start him, but I'm not convinced that would be the right decision.

"Bamford has obviously got more experience and even though he should have scored more goals this season, his all-round game has improved massively. If he can just get himself one goal, it should give his confidence a boost and then he can hopefully go on a bit of a run.

"Nketiah is probably the better option to bring off the bench and should be able to make an impact in the second half if Leeds need a goal.

"With that said, Leeds need to start thinking about starting Nketiah soon. He's a special talent and he's shown on a number of occasions that he's got what it takes to make an impact at this level.

"If Leeds don't begin to start him soon, there's every chance that Arsenal could decide to recall him in the January."
