Ipswich Town could be set to move for Barnsley man Marley Watkins, according to a report by the Sun via Independent Ipswich Town.
The versatile 26-year-old has been of interest to the Tractor Boys for some time, and it now appears Ipswich could be set to rekindle that interest in Watkins during the January transfer window, with a bid of £1.5m potentially in the pipeline.
Watkins has made 21 appearances for Barnsley this season and has contributed a healthy 6 goals to the cause for Paul Heckingbottom’s men. His form has not gone unnoticed, and now Mick McCarthy may well swoop for Watkins if he feels he can strike a deal.
Barnsley are enjoying an excellent season back in the Championship following last seasons promotion from League One, and currently sit in 8th place in the table.
Manager Heckingbottom though will no doubt be keen to keep hold of Watkins, who he sees as a valuable member of his squad along with the likes of Sam Winnall and Conor Hourihane.
Barnsley fans, what do you think? Ipswich fans, would this be a good signing? Let us know in the comments!
