Ipswich Town could be set to complete a move for Rotherham United striker Danny Ward, according to Independent Ipswich Town.
26-year-old Ward has been one of few shining lights for the Millers this term, with his attacking displays and goals earning him praise and admiring glances from throughout the league.
However, it now appears it is Ipswich who are in pole position to land the front man, with a fee of around £500,000 reported as the sum it will take to prize away the striker from the New York Stadium.
Mick McCarthy was impressed by what he saw when Ward bagged two at Portman Road earlier in the campaign, and knowing the striker can leave for nothing in the summer, he will be tempted to chance the Millers’ arm with a bid in January.
Ipswich have fluctuated this season between the playoff spots and mid table, while Rotherham look hot candidates for relegation back to League One under interim manager Paul Warne.
