Ian Poveda has been pictured outside Elland Road, as Leeds United look to wrap up a deal for the Manchester City winger.

Leeds have added just Elia Caprile to their squad so far this month, with Marcelo Bielsa still awaiting attacking arrivals on top of the young goalkeeper.

Whilst the signing of Eddie Nketiah’s replacement up-front continues to evade them, Leeds are closing in on winger, Poveda, who is seen as the man to step into Jack Clarke’s shoes after he was recalled by Tottenham.

And, a Leeds fans' trip to Elland Road saw him bump into what appears to be an imminent second January arrival for the Whites, as he posed for a picture with Poveda outside the stadium.

It was revealed earlier today that a deal for the 19-year-old was all but completed, with a medical scheduled and presumably completed this afternoon, leaving just the minor pieces of paperwork left before Leeds complete the signing.

This deal had been in the offing for a while as the Whites look to add more depth to the wide areas after Clarke’s departure, with just Jack Harrison and Helder Costa seen as regular first-team candidates for the positions.

With this photo emerging on twitter, it would appear that this deal is to be announced imminently by the club.

What are these former Leeds United players up to nowadays?

The verdict

As much as this cannot be used as complete confirmation that Poveda has signed for the club, it is probably the strongest hard evidence that he is set to join Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

There was strong interest in Poveda from Italy and it did appear that the Whites could be set to miss out on his signature this month but they look to have finally won the race.

Poveda is clearly highly thought of at the Etihad Stadium as he dazzles in the under-23s setup and earned a debut under Pep Guardiola last season in their League Cup semi-final against Burton Albion.

He will come straight into Leeds’ side as a permanent signing and directly replace Jack Clarke to provide pace and trickery to a side that is desperate for a spark after winning just one in seven league games.
