Football League World's Reading fan pundit Nathan Cole has questioned manager Mark Bowen's decision to recall the likes of Gareth McCleary, Chris Gunter and Sam Baldock back into the first-team.

Bowen confirmed the news during his first pre-match press conference on Tuesday afternoon but Cole cannot help but question the decision, after the trio were cast out by Jose Gomes.

"I don’t think it’s the right move to bring all three of them back into the first team squad," the regular punter told Football League World.

"I don't see how they get back into the squad for any matchday and also we don’t really need them in the squad.

"Im not surprised by the negative reaction to the news about those three being back in the team as all Reading fans don’t think they would improve us at all and most of fans wanted all three of them gone in the summer window but they all sat around and didn’t wanted to move."

30-year-old Gunter is yet to make an appearance for the Royals this term, getting two run outs for the reserves instead, and any match will be his first since the last day of last season.

For McCleary he has not played since the end of April and it is a decision from Bowen that is sure to be unpopular with the fans, given how well the team had played without the duo's involvement.

This weekend sees the Royals welcome Preston North End to the Madejski in Bowen's first game at the helm of the club.
