Football League World's Queen Park Rangers fan pundit Joshua Willcocks has offered up his opinion on how Brighton loanee Jan Mlakar has adapted to life in west London, with the youngster having found game time limited thus far.

The 21-year-old Slovenian has only appeared on five occasions for the R's, with all of those appearances coming from the bench, which can be largely attributed to the consistent form currently being shown by Jordan Hugill and Nahki Wells this season.

With just 91 minutes of football to his name this term, the young forward will no doubt be looking to get off the mark for his new club soon, in order to convince R's boss Mark Warburton to grant him more starting appearances.

We caught up with Willcocks earlier this week, and the QPR fan pundit was quick to give his views on the 21-year-old's start to the season.

He said:

"It's definitely been difficult for Mlakar so far this season, he's yet to start in the league and has struggled to make any sort of impact when coming off the bench.

"With no goals or assists to his name, he's firmly behind the likes of Wells and Hugill in the pecking order and I have serious doubts whether the young Slovenian can adapt to the English game.

"His exploits at Maribor established himself as a prolific forward in his home country but it seems like his move to QPR has come too early in his career as he currently lacks that composure and cutting edge in front of goal."

Willcocks then discussed the youngster's chances of starting more games, with the QPR fan saying:

"It's hard to see what Mlakar brings to the table that other forwards don't and as one of the highest scoring teams in the Championship, there's no need to force him into QPR's starting line-up.

"I'm sure Brighton would be disappointed with how their young striker is being limited to the odd substitute appearance but it's Warburton's responsibility to pick his strongest team every week and Mlakar doesn't appear to be at the required level."

It is fair to say that the jury is largely out on the 21-year-old so far this campaign, with the Brighton loanee having failed to have found the net, his days at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium seem to be numbered and only time will tell if he lives up to the hype surrounding him.
