Huddersfield Town forward Josh Koroma has opened up about the importance of creating a winning mentality during pre-season.

The 20-year-old helped the Terriers secure a 3-1 victory over Rochdale at the Crown Oil Arena on Wednesday by firing his first goal for the club since joining last month from League Two side Leyton Orient.

This latest win for Jan Siewert's side followed impressive outings against German sides Hamburg and SpVgg Greuther Furth.

Speaking to the club's official website after the victory, Koroma said: "It's good to get the winning feeling all the time.

"You just want to win games no matter if it's a friendly, a cup game of a league game, you just want to win games.

"Scoring was good, of course, but most importantly we got 90 minutes out of everyone and we won."

Now four games into their pre-season schedule, Huddersfield will cap off their preparations for the upcoming campaign with friendlies against Doncaster Rovers and Montpellier later this month with Koroma expected to be heavily involved in both clashes.

The Verdict

When you consider just how dismal the previous season was for everyone associated with the Terriers, the club needed a few positive results to lift the spirits at the John Smith's Stadium and thus their performances so far this summer have been somewhat of a blessing.

Although it would be naive to get carried away with the club's recent displays given the tranquil nature that friendlies often pose, if they had lost to Hamburg and Rochdale, the club's supporters may have been at panic stations.

For Koroma's sake, this particular period of the year is paramount as a continuation of his impressive form over the coming weeks could result in him forcing his way into Siewert's plans ahead of the likes of Karlan Grant and Elias Kachunga for the Terriers' opening day clash with Derby County on August 5th.
