Powell was delighted with the attitude of the players

The Terriers had been trailing 2-0 in their final home game of the season, with goals from the highly rated Rovers pair Rudy Gestede and Jordan Rhodes, before Jacob Butterfield pulled one back before Joe Lolley struck the equaliser six minutes from time.

In his post match interview, Powell told the club website: "We know we have a duty to wear the shirt with pride and to do our best to entertain, especially at home. We had a lot of fans here today that we want to come back again and we wanted to give them what they want. It was a good day all round when you think of value for money."

The former Addicks boss handed a debut to 20-year-old centre back Joe Wilkinson and was pleased with his performance saying: "It's good for him to get his senior debut. The players all supported him and helped him out. He made some good decisions today."

With the club safely placed in 16th position in the Championship - 13 points clear of relegation there could be the tendency to switch off with nothing seemingly to play for, but with no defeats in six league games in April including two wins, it looks like the players certainly have the right mindset which will please manager Powell.

Overall, Powell is excited about next season in his reflection of this campaign adding: "We should have a few more points this season and this match, together with Derby last week, are two more we can reflect on as games we should have won. However, there are definitely positives from our play that I can take forward to next season to make us better."
