Queens Park Rangers are still in search of their first clean sheet under Mark Warburton, who’s constant changing is a sign that he doesn’t know his best defence yet.

Mark Warburton has enjoyed a steady start to life in West London, but one stat that looms over their parade is the fact that they’re yet to keep a clean sheet this season.

For all their attacking worth, all their youngsters and in-form goal-scorers, QPR have a distinct problem at the back and it’s one that Warburton seemingly has no control over.

He’s been trying all sorts to get his team to keep a scoreline to nil - a back four, a back-five, Joe Lumley in goal, Liam Kelly the next. It’s something he’ll have to figure out in time for their trip to Hull next weekend.

In the latest FLW Six-Pointer, we discuss what QPR’s best defensive structure may be.

Is a back four or five best for QPR?

QPR have played a pretty even amount of games in both set-ups, either in a 5-3-2 or a 4-2-3-1.

The five allows for more attacking full-backs in Ryan Manning and Todd Kane, and when QPR adopt this they look more of a threat.

But in a back-four, the full-back play the same role and leave their centre-backs too exposed - five at the back is probably Waburton's best bet.

Are QPR’s full-back’s too attacking-minded?

Maybe, yes. This season has seen the transition of Ryan Manning at left-back, who's originally a central midfielder.

He’s been a revelation since switching positions, and is top of most the stats charts at QPR.

But his defensive capabilities are yet to be proven, and he’s often caught way too far up the pitch when his team are on the defence.

Is Toni Leistner good enough to lead the defence?

QPR fans have dubbed club-captain Leistner the Big Friendly German and he is, but this season he’s not been showing the leadership qualities that a team pushing for the play-offs need.

His mentality as a player is fantastic, he gives everything for the club - but some fans question whether he has the promotion-quality.

Is Yoann Barbet a liability?

Often partnering Leistner in the heart of defence, Summer-signing Yoann Barbet has often proved a liability for QPR.

Having missed the Cardiff game for a red card he picked up against West Brom last month, Barbet returned to the sqaud for the Blackburn game and he and Leistner often looked lost in the face of attack.

Geoff Cameron should start ahead of Barbet.

Should Warburton go for Joe Lumley or Liam Kelly?

Joe Lumley started the season as number one, and will have felt rather disheartened when he was replaced by Liam Kelly for the last two Championship matches.

Lumley though has bags more experience at this level than Kelly, who’s looked shaky in his two appearances - expect Warburton to start with Lumley against Hull.

Do QPR need to sign a keeper in January?

Lumley has shown what he's capable of for QPR. He's a young keeper with plenty of years ahead of him, but similarly with Leistner - some fans have questioned if he's good enough for a play-off chasing team.

Warburton may well look for a new stopper in January.
