Sheffield Wednesday forward Fernando Forestieri played a key role in his side's 2-2 draw with Swansea City at Hillsborough yesterday, leading many Owls fans to urge Garry Monk to start him in the next game.

The Swans led through Andrew Ayew's first-half goal for much of the game but Forestieri, who came on for Atdhe Nuhiu after the break, grabbed an 81st-minute equaliser for the hosts.

It looked as though Morgan Fox had snatched the victory for Monk's side when he scored in the first minute of added time but Ben Wilmot had other ideas, turning in a looping corner in the 94th minute to ensure the points were shared.

The result means Wednesday remain seventh, one point outside the play-off places.

Forestieri's equaliser was the 29-year-old's first goal of the season–coming in his eighth appearance in all competitions.

The Italian missed a substantial part of the start of the 2019/20 campaign as he was serving a six-match ban for racially abusing Mansfield Town defender Krystian Pearce.

He returned to action for the Owls in mid-October and has been used regularly as a substitute by Monk over the last few weeks.

Forestieri provided some well-needed attacking impetus against the Swans and his performance has not gone unnoticed by Wednesday fans, with many calling him for him to start the next game.
