Fulham are set to sign Bristol City defender Ryan Fredericks despite only signing 26 days ago, a club insider has told Football League World.

Fredericks joined City from Tottenham this summer

The 22-year-old only signed for the Robins this summer from Tottenham Hotspur following a loan spell at Middlesbrough, and after playing four games for the club he is now set to leave Ashton Gate.

A right wing back, Fredericks now wants a move back to the capital for personal reasons, with manager Steve Cotterill telling the Bristol Post after their game against Burnley today: "Ryan will be leaving us. It only happened late last night.

"He's leaving us for personal reasons and will be joining another London club. He's having a medical today and will join the club for the same fee that we paid for him.

"We wish him good luck with that. We understand, sometimes things happen. We're one light on the bench today, but you can only use three substitutes anyway."

Fulham have been the first to pounce on the England under-19 international's signature and will be their fifth defensive signing of the summer, their sixth if the club adds Richard Stearman as well.

He will have to compete with Jazz Richards for his starting place, though, with the Wales international the current first choice at right-back.

Fredericks is a fine young defender and despite this bizarre transfer merry-go-round, he looks like a great bit of business.
