Bristol City have had their injury problems this season and have only just managed to get their side fully fit as they look to move on up the table and maintain their spot in the play-off places.

Tomas Kalas has recently just returned from injury, while Korey Smith is making his return to playing after a nightmare spell out on the sidelines over the past seven months.

Robins manager Lee Johnson would have been worried about the state of his squad in recent weeks with some players such as Han-Noah Massengo looking tired and not looking as energetic as they were earlier on in the campaign.

Johnson has been forced to turn his hand to the free market already this season, having to bring in former Sheffield Wednesday striker Rodri on a short-term deal because of an anterior cruciate ligament injury to loan striker Benik Afobe, as well as snapping up former Swansea captain Ashley Williams on a free transfer in August.

The Robins gaffer would have had to plan his squad on a budget and luckily was backed by the board to bring in some late recruitments as City desperately needed the bodies to help keep them up near the top of the table.

The side that are sat in the play-offs though have been struggling all season at getting a fully fit squad available, with wing-backs Jack Hunt and Jay Dasilva being the only two players now out injured.

Striker Famara Diedhiou is ready to return from his suspension picked up against Charlton Athletic last month, and Johnson will be breathing a sigh of relief now that his squad is in a better place than what it was a couple of weeks ago.

The pressures of Championship football can sometimes take its toll on a small squad, but thankfully Johnson has just about managed to have the squad depth available to him in order to keep the Robins at the right end of the table.

The experienced manager knows just what he is doing when setting up tactically and positionally, but now he has a nice selection headache with most of his squad available.

He has the squad depth ready and waiting to come in if ever needed and he will be feeling that a real play-off push could be on the cards if most of the players are available for selection.

Johnson has the experience, energy and depth within his squad now to make a real push for the play-offs, and it's important for the club that they make sure that they are over their injury crisis as they could be a real force to be reckoned with.
