A number of clubs including Rangers and Newcastle United are monitoring Sander Berge for the first half of this season as they continue to weigh up making a potential move for the midfielder, Football League World can reveal exclusively.

The Norwegian international was the subject of a lot of speculation over the summer, with Sheffield United relegated from the Premier League and many thinking the midfielder was going to be getting a move back to the top flight or elsewhere away from Bramall Lane.

He remains a Blade, though, and will now be looking to try and help the club get on a winning run of form to challenge for promotion in the coming months after a tough start to the campaign.

If he does perform well, though, and shows no sign of lingering injury issues after surgery last season, he could again be attracting interest come January.

Football League World can reveal a number of clubs are watching his progress closely for the first half of this season, including Newcastle United and Rangers, with them eager to see that he has put the fitness problems he had last year behind him, with him needing surgery mid-campaign.

Indeed, if they get such assurances that he is looking robust and back up to speed, we could see a clamour of clubs looking at him once more.
