Nouha Dicko has signed a new contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers, keeping him at the club until 2020, reports the club's official website.

The striker has extended his current deal, which only had 18-months left on it, penning a new three-and-a-half year deal.

The 24-year old has featured 19 times this season, scoring just two-goals, and manager Paul Lambert believes his performances warranted a new deal:

“He is a major threat to opposition defenders with his pace and now I think he just needs to get a goal under his belt.

“He has been great since I have been here having come back from a long term injury.”

Dicko missed the majority of the 2015/16 season with a knee injury, but was key to Wolves’ promotion from League One and Championship return.

The Mali international first joined Wolves on-loan from Wigan Athletic during the 2013/14 season, where he impressed before signing permanently in January 2014.

However, it was the 2014/15 season where Dicko shone, scoring 15 goals as Wolves narrowly missed out on a play-off place.

This was the campaign where Dicko struck up an impressive partnership with fellow forwards Bakary Sako and Benik Afobe, both have since left the club, joining Crystal Palace and Bournemouth respectively.

During his time at Molineux, Dicko has found the net 30 times.

Lambert’s side currently sit 18th in the Sky Bet Championship and a mid-table finish seems inevitable, with Wolves seven-points clear of the relegation zone and 13-points behind the play-off places.

Next up for Wolves is a trip to Barnsley on January 31st, as they look to bounce back from their recent 3-1 defeat to Norwich City.
