Leeds United have today confirmed that midfielder Luke Murphy will head to Burton Albion on loan until the end of the season.

Luke Murphy becomes Burton Albion’s third signing of the January window already, after the Brewers secured deals for strikers Marvin Sordell and Luke Varney earlier in the month.

The 27-year-old has not been part of Garry Monk’s plans this season, only featuring in the EFL Cup victory over Luton Town, where he played 58 minutes before being substituted.

After starting his career at Crewe Alexandra, Murphy moved to Leeds United in summer 2013.

The central midfielder played over 150 times for Crewe and has also made over 100 appearances for Leeds, including 37 league matches last season.

Murphy joins on loan until the end of the season and has been made eligible for Burton’s FA Cup visit to Watford this weekend.

Burton currently sit just one point and one place above the drop zone in the Championship so they are looking to improve the squad in January.
