Bristol City have completed the signing of Hertha Berlin midfielder Jens Hegeler, as reported by the club's official website.

The central midfielder has been snapped up for an undisclosed fee but with his contract due to expire at the end of the season, Bristol City won't have had to break the bank to get their man.

Hegeler arrives on the back of a frustrating season for himself where he has played just 6 times in the Bundesliga, despite lasting the whole of their last two matches.

The 28-year-old holds a lot of experience in the German game, earning over 150 appearances in the Bundesliga.

The former German Under-21 international has played in the centre of midfield for the majority of his career but he is also very capable of filling in at the back which could prove handy for the Robins.

Hegeler has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal at Ashton Gate and will go straight into contention for Saturday's FA Cup tie against Fleetwood Town.

Manager Lee Johnson will be hoping that the introduction of the German will help his side recover from their awful run of form in recent weeks.
