Doncaster Rovers have announced that goalkeeper Seny Dieng has extended his loan spell at the Keepmoat Stadium until the end of the 2019-20 season.

The 25-year-old is currently on loan at Rovers from Championship club Queens Park Rangers with his loan spell originally running until January.

Dieng has started in all of Rovers' last 14 league matches and has managed four clean sheets, conceding only 16 goals so far this term.

Rovers have conceded the joint second lowest amount amount of goals in League One so far this term and it now appears the goalkeeper is part of Darren Moore's plans for the remainder of the season.

Telling the club's official website, Dieng said: "I’m delighted to have extended my loan with the club, my time here so far has been enjoyable with the players and staff around me."

"I am looking forward to continuing our push in the second half of the season as we try to reach our goals," the 25-year-old added.

Dieng was an unused substitute for Rovers' opening seven league games of the season, but after impressing in both the FA Cup and EFL Cup games, Darren Moore has given him the nod ahead of Ian Lawlor.

Rovers don't have a game this weekend after failing to make the FA Cup third round, but face Shrewsbury Town in League One action on Tuesday.

The Verdict

After dislodging Ian Lawlor for the number one spot at the Keepmoat Stadium, it doesn't come as too much of a surprise that Dieng has extended his stay in South Yorkshire.

Despite being 15th in League One, Rovers are still only five points from the division's play-off places and boast one of the more solid defences in the league.

At 25, the decision also seems like the right one for Dieng as he will most likely continue to get regular first team football with Doncaster.
