After suffering a career threatening injury in March 2015, Britt Assombalonga is finally starting to look to be back to his best after scoring nine goals for the Reds this season.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo international has struggled to fully recover since his lengthy lay off but it looks like the forward is finally getting there.

At Championship level, you will struggle to find a more prolific goal scorer than the 24-year-old.

When Assombalonga is fit and firing he is one of the deadliest strikers in the Championship and Forest fans will be hoping that he can score the goals to ensure that they remain a Championship club at the end of the season.

Assombalonga started his career at Watford before heading out on loan to numerous lower league clubs.

The 24-year-old then signed for Peterborough United where he started to make himself known resulting in Forest smashing their record transfer fee to sign him.

Football League World writer Harry Webster takes a look at two things you probably didn't know about Britt Assombalonga...

His brother is also a footballer

Britt Assombalonga's brother, Christian Assombalonga, is also a well known prolific scorer but in the lower leagues.

His brother scored 31 goals in 34 appearances for Waltham Abbey before he earned a move to non-league side Dagenham & Redbridge in the summer.

Like Britt, Chris has the ability of being at the right place at the right time and is regarded as a very dangerous striker at non-league level.

He moved to England when he was 8 months old

The Nottingham Forest forward was born in Kenshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo with his family moving to England when he was just eight months old.

Therefore, Assombalonga is eligible to play for both England and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, but in 2015 the 24-year-old striker chose to play for the African country.

Assombalonga had the opportunity to represent his country at the African Cup of Nations but he turned down the offer to focus on playing for the Reds and get back fit after his injury.
