Millwall recorded yet another victory at the Den on Saturday as they beat Charlton 2-1 thanks to a last minute header from striker Matt Smith.

This keeps a 23 year unbeaten run going against the Addicks and means that the Lions move up to 15th in the Championship.

Gary Rowett recently took over from Neil Harris who resigned after a rather inconsistent start to the season. The manager has helped the Lions earn two wins in his three games since taking over and has continued making Millwall a fortress when playing at the Den.

There home form has always been good and that is because of the vocal support that they get for the club and the intimidating atmosphere that their fans bring to fixtures.

However, away from home this season they have been far from impressive and it's something that will have to be improved on as soon as possible if they're to have any chance of making a dart for a top half finish.

Rowett has to find a way of improving this, and despite having the application and effort from his players, they need to find a way of hurting opposition when on their travels.

This season Millwall have picked up just four points away from the Den, and have failed to claim a victory on the road. They don't often get hammered but seem to find the crucial moments of games not going in their favour which seriously halts any chances they have of moving forward and progressing in the future.

If they could even have got a couple of wins away from home this season, they'd be much higher and challenging for the play-offs and these are the small margins that they face throughout the campaign.

Millwall are 3rd in the overall home form which signifies how bad the away record has actually been. If Rowett can manage to do a bit better away from the Den then that'll mean that there's a strong chance that they can challenge in the top half of the league.

It seems they have a base, but they now need to push on ahead of what could be some exciting times at the Den.
