Tom Ince has told the club's official website the importance of Saturday’s 3-2 victory over Reading.

Ince netted his 10th goal of the season as the Rams held off a late fight back from Jaap Stam’s Reading.

Goals from Darren Bent and Will Hughes, either side of Ince’s strike, gave Steve McClaren’s side the all important three-points.

The victory puts Derby back in play-off contention, and trailing sixth placed Sheffield Wednesday by just two-points.

Back-to-back defeats against Norwich City and Leeds United had left Derby trailing the top six places by five-points, and Ince was quick to point out the importance of Saturday’s win, he told RamsTV:

“We knew that Saturday was a massive game for us off the back of two defeats in the league.

“It was a match in which two good sides went up against each other going for the same thing, a place in the top six this season.

“We have to build on what we did in that game now because it was a massive win for us.”

McClaren’s side face Premier League Champions Leicester City on Friday evening, in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Next up in the Sky Bet Championship for the Rams is a trip to Ipswich Town on January 31st.
