Huddersfield Town head coach David Wagner has had his say on loan star Izzy Brown, ahead of his side taking on Yorkshire rivals Rotherham United, reports the Huddersfield Daily Examiner.

Brown joined the Terriers on loan for the rest of the campaign, from Premier League giant Chelsea, during the January transfer window.

The attacking midfielder had previously spent the first-half of the season on loan with bottom of the table Rotherham, though his stint in south Yorkshire was cut down.

The 19-year-old has bagged four goals since his January move, including two in as many games for Town, against Leeds United and QPR.

Wagner has been full of praise for Brown, ahead of the midweek Yorkshire Derby, he said: “Izzy has all the offensive skills, just small spaces to improve in. We have tried to help him with defending and also to bring him in a good position for the offence.”

Brown has gone from fighting relegation with one team during the first-half of the season to a promotion chase during the second, but is now adapting to the top end of the Sky Bet Championship, Wagner continued:

“I think we have also helped him with how to play as a man, not a youth footballer.

“And we have worked to reach the fitness levels he needs for our high-intensity game.”

Huddersfield head to the New York Stadium tonight in search of their fifth consecutive victory in the Championship, with Brown likely to feature against his former side.

Wagner’s side are currently third in the Championship table and are looking to close the six-point gap to the automatic promotion places.
