Chelsea's Reece James has been linked with a loan move to Championship side, Swansea City according to the Daily Mail.

James was hugely impressive in his last loan spell in the Championship, playing for Wigan Athletic as he played a key role in their survival bid.

In total, James made 45 league appearances for the Latics last season, but is evidently destined for bigger and better things in the future.

He's yet to make an appearance for the Chelsea first-team, but is highly-thought of at Stamford Bride by the Blues supporters, who will have been keen to see him feature for their team next season.

Swansea have recently appointed Steve Cooper as their new manager, and he's seemingly made James one of his top transfer targets heading into the summer.

The report claims that a number of Bundesliga sides are also interested in signing the Chelsea youngster on loan next season, although no immediate decision will be made on his future.

James is currently sidelined with an ankle ligament injury picked up on international duty, and will be hoping he can return in time for the start of the new season.

The Verdict:

What a signing this would be.

James hardly put a foot wrong all season with Wigan recently, and is a player with a bright future ahead of him, that's for sure.

I can't see Swansea being able to persuade Chelsea to let him go for another season, so it will be interesting to see if the Swans do submit a formal loan offer to land his signature.
