The 22-year-old spent time on loan at Preston last year in League One, helping them to promotion by winning the play-offs, beating Chesterfield and Swindon.

After spending the season at parent club Manchester United, the Red Devils are prepared to loan him out again, with three clubs interested.

However, all three clubs already have goalkeepers on loan at the club, Jordan Pickford at Preston from Sunderland, Joe Lewis at Fulham from Cardiff and Emiliano Martinez at Wolves from Arsenal, meaning it would be rather strange for any of them to take another keeper on loan.

However, Preston may fear that Pickford may be recalled by Sunderland has interest mounts in their young keeper who has wowed scouts this season, keeping a number of clean sheets, helping Preston keep above the relegation zone.
