Neil Warnock has revealed via Wales Online that Cardiff City midfielder Lex Immers has been released from his contract by “mutual agreement”.

It is believed that Warnock has let Immers go to free up some wage space to bring his own players in.

Lex Immers was a key part of Cardiff’s team last year, under the guidance of Russell Slade, as his loan spell ended with 5 goals in 15 games.

The Dutchman signed a permanent deal in the summer worth about £2m but has not managed to recapture his form of last year and has been a bit-part player since Neil Warnock took over.

Warnock confirmed that:

“Lex Immers has left the club by mutual agreement.

He has not been in my plans since I’ve been here in fairness.”

The news comes as Cardiff announced the signing of versatile defender Greg Halford for an undisclosed fee.

Cardiff fans – what do you make of this news? Are you disappointed to see Immers go? Are you pleased to have spent that money on Halford? Let us know in the comments below…
