Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock has moved quickly to bolster his side's defensive ranks, with the Bluebirds today completing the signing of Senegalese full back Armand Traore, who returns to the club on a free transfer.

Traore of course is no stranger to Warnock and the Cardiff City fans, with the former Juventus defender having turned out for the Bluebirds on  four occasions during the 2017/2018 season, scoring one and assisting one as the south Wales club achieved promotion to the Premier League.

Traore will provide cover for Cardiff during the next few months of the season, with games coming thick and fast over the winter period, meaning that Warnock will have to utilize the entirety of his squad.

The 30-year-old will be competing with fellow left back Joe Bennett for a regular starting spot in Warnock's starting eleven.

The Verdict

I think this is a very wise move from Warnock, with the former Sheffield United boss moving quickly to find a solution for an area that has clearly been a problem for the Bluebirds.

Traore of course has past experience of playing in England for various clubs and also will know what Warnock expects from his players after previously playing for the club a couple of seasons ago.

It will be interesting to see how the 30-year-old performs in the coming months, as if he puts in some positive displays, he could well earn himself an extended contract.

Joe Bennett will no doubt be now looking over his shoulder, with the full back having previously not had too much competition for his position in the side up to now, meaning that he will have to continue to perform in order to solidify his spot in the starting eleven.

Meanwhile, Neil Warnock will be hoping his side can pick up a positive result in their Severnside Derby clash with rivals Bristol City this weekend.
