Bristol City are edging closer to reaching an agreement to sign three more players heading into pre-season as Lee Johsnon conducts his business early in the transfer window.

According to Bristol Live, the Robins are set to announce the signing of Chelsea defender, Tomas Kalas on a permanent deal in the near future.

Kalas spent last season on loan with Johnson's side, making 38 appearances as they narrowly missed out on a place inside the top six in the Championship.

But the report also claims that Bristol City will confirm the signing of Colchester midfielder, Rene Gilmartin and Doncaster Rovers' Tommy Rowe before the new season gets underway.

Gilmartin is expected to arrive at Ashton Gate shortly after his contract with Colchester expires at the end of June, whilst Rowe has reportedly agreed to sign for the promotion hopefuls.

The Doncaster captain made 32 appearances in League One last season, but will have been left frustrated as they missed out on promotion after a defeat to Charlton in their play-off semi-final.

This latest transfer update comes after the club confirmed the signing of Brentford goalkeeper, Daniel Bentley and Chelsea's Jay Dasilva on permanent deal after reaching an agreement with the Blues.

The Ashton Gate faithful have every reason to be excited ahead of the new season, where they will be hoping that their new signings can turn them into promotion candidates.

The Verdict:

They aren't messing around are they!

The trio will all add some strength in depth to the Bristol City team next season, and I think they will certainly be up there in terms of challenging for promotion to the Premier League.

If their new signings can hit the ground running, then I see no reason as to why they won't be finishing inside the top six, which will certainly be the expectation now from the Bristol City supporters.
