For Bristol City, this season is arguably their most important since they returned to the second tier of English football in 2015.

Since Lee Johnson took the reins at Ashton Gate, the Robins have gradually risen up the table, narrowly missing out on the top-six in recent years, but now stand as one of the favourites to claim a play-off spot.

And it is a case of so far, so good with 16 matches played. They currently sit in sixth place with a two-point cushion over seventh-placed Fulham and just five points behind table-toppers West Brom.

They picked up a morale boosting win on Sunday too, as they headed into the international break.

Travelling to South Wales, the Robins clashed with Severnside rivals Cardiff City, with Josh Brownhill's brilliant second-half striker proving enough to win all three points for Johnson.

It was an impressive display from the club, if not a dazzling one, but they once again showed off their resilience to close out a narrow victory.

One of the most notable changes from the match came in the Robins' midfield as Adam Nagy came in to replace rapidly-rising star Han-Noah Massengo.

Both players arrived in the summer and it was the Hungarian who broke into the first-team picture first, but after suffering an early injury set-back he handed Massengo the opportunity to start.

And it was largely a chance he grabbed with both hands, impressing immensley as he racked up 13 straight appearances in the second-tier, signalling himself out as a real footballing prospect.

However, the weekend clash with Cardiff saw him dropped to the bench again as Nagy made his return.

But how will the Frenchman be feeling as he heads into the international break?

He will no doubt feel slightly deflated having had such a strong run in the side, and his teammate's strong performance will not have eased those concerns at all.

However, he will have gained a serious amount of confidence form the opening stages of the season and will surely know that he has what it takes to muscle his way back into the picture.

For the fans and for the club, it leaves them in a very strong position. Not many teams in the league can boast such strong central midfield options.

So it is now time for Massengo to prove he is the best of the bunch.
