Championship side Bristol City are closing in on the signing of Preston North End defender Bailey Wright according to reports from HITC Sport.
Wright is in the final six months of his contract at Deepdale and it appears the club may have no option other to cash in on the Australian international while they still can.
Bristol City are keen to act quickly to secure Wright’s signature as a number of clubs are reportedly keen on the impressive 24 year old.
Wright has been at Preston North End his whole career so far and is a huge fans’ favourite at the club.
Wright has made over 200 appearances for the club and has proved himself to be a very commanding, confident and composed central defender.
Wright is a current Australian international and has been capped 12 times by the Socceroos, scoring once in the process during a 3-2 win against Saudi Arabia.
Bristol City boss Lee Johnson is desperate to add his squad after having lost nine of their last 10 games and Bailey Wright could potentially be the first of many additions at Ashton Gate this January.
Wright would join Jens Hegeler through the door at Ashton Gate, who signed for the club from Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin for an undisclosed fee.
