Said Benrahma, Bryan Mbeumo and Ollie Watkins all found the back of the net as Brentford confidently saw off local rivals QPR on Saturday lunch-time in the final West London derby to be played at Griffin Park.

Having scored 11 goals in their last two games, Mark Warburton and his side will have been in confident spirits ahead of this one, but the first 45 minutes did anything but reflect that.

The game was just 17 minutes old when the Bees opened the scoring. Mbeumo was felled by the recalled Ryan Manning on the right-hand side of the box, with Mathias Jensen and Josh Dasilva both stood over the resulting set-piece.

It was the former who delivered a clever driven cross and there was Benrahma, arriving on the penalty spot, to fire home into the bottom-left corner.

That was only Benrahma's fifth goal of the season, but with one coming in the clash away to the R's back in October, he certainly knows when to find the back of the net.

Thomas Frank's side were clearly keen not to rest on their laurels as they pushed for a second. And it came just six minutes later.

As the visitors struggled to clear the ball, a looping Benrahma header was badly misjudged by Geoff Cameron, allowing Mbeumo a glimmer of goal. He took the chance brilliantly, cushioning a volley past Joe Lumley to put his side firmly in control - his 11th of the season.

But that still was not enough to satiate the goal hungry Bees, clearly intent on giving Griffin Park an iconic send off.

And in the 33rd minute it was three. Jensen again involved as his floated free-kick was met at the back-post by Ethan Pinnock, and his header fell perfectly for Watkins, mere inches from the goal line, to nod home the third and send him to the top of the goalscoring charts alongside Aleksandar Mitrovic.

The second half threatened to go much the same way early on, as Benrahma curled a free-kick teasingly into the side netting and not between the posts as many home fans initially thought.

It was clear, however, that Brentford were happy for their rivals to have more of the ball and play on the counter, which threatened to work on multiple occasions.

However, it was the R's who struck the only goal of the second half to raise hopes in the away end of a famous comeback.

Osayi-Samuel, who had netted three in his last two games, turned provider this time, doing well down the right and crossing low for Nahki Wells to flick home impressively.

The R's continued to threaten in bursts. Osayi-Samuel scuffed his shot when presented with half a chance before Chair and Manning combined to create a brilliant chance for Eze, but the midfielder's finish lacked power in the six-yard box.

But Brentford were always a menace. The relentless Benrahma frequently found space on the left-wing, crossing perfectly for Watkins in the final ten minutes, but the striker couldn't keep his header down.

The QPR comeback, if it can be called that, ran out of steam with the duo of Pontus Jansson and Pinnock proving resilient at the back throughout, whilst the midfield battle was won emphaically by Jensen, Dasilva and Christian Norgaard.

3-1 it finished. After a dominant first-half, the Bees will feel it could have been more whilst a small part of the R's contigent may have been happy to keep the score respectable in the end.

It is a result which moves Brentford to within six points of Leeds and West Brom in the automatic promotion places, whilst QPR remain in 15th although they could find themselves tumbling once the three o'clock games are played.
