The 47-year-old has lead the Bantams into an FA Cup quarter final this season, having already defeated Premier League giants Chelsea and Sunderland in the competition.

Parkinson also guided the club to a Capital One Cup final back in 2013, in what was seen as a simply incredible achievement for a League One club.

Talking about Parkinson signing a new deal at the club, Bradford City co-owner Mark Lawn told the Daily Star:

"Phil doesn't want to leave, I don't think, and we don't want to get rid of him. We've always been able to talk to each other so we'll just see how things go.

"I am a great believer in getting each season over with at a time. Then we will talk. If he wants to start talking in the summer then that's what we'll do."

When it comes to negotiations he's tough. His last contract that he negotiated, he didn't mess about. But he'd got us promoted and also to Wembley, so he had a strong negotiating position and he used it to his advantage.

"His contract is up again next year and I hope that he's got us by the bollocks again.

Bradford City face Steve Clarke's Reading in the quarter final of the FA Cup on Saturday at Valley Parade, in a game that will send one of the clubs to a Wembley FA Cup semi-final.

The Bantams currently sit in eighth position in Sky Bet League One, having accrued 48 points from 33 league games.

Parkinson's side lie a mere one point outside of the coveted play-off spots in the league, and the club will no doubt be aiming to reach the top six by the end of the season.
