Two sides still harbouring hopes of making a late break into the Championship play-off places this season will go head to head at Ewood Park on Saturday afternoon, when Blackburn Rovers host Swansea City.

Football League World will be reporting live from Ewood Park for the Saturday afternoon 15:00 kick-off, so we have gathered together everything you need to know in the build-up.

Both sides go into this one having been left frustrated in midweek, with Blackburn held to a goalless draw by Stoke that denied them the chance to go within one place and two points of the top-six spots with 11 games of the season remaining.

Swansea meanwhile suffered an agonising late defeat to Fulham at Crave Cottage, as Aleksandar Mitrovic made up for a late penalty miss to head home a 94th-minute winner in a match in which the Swans felt they should have had a penalty of their own.

That result has left the Welsh club ninth in the Championship table, one place and one point behind their hosts this weekend, and it certainly looks as this could be a tight encounter at Ewood Park.

With both sides averaging little over 50% possession across the course of the season so far, you wonder whether the passing game of these two could cancel each other out on Saturday.

As a result, it may well be the setbacks that both sides have suffered in defence over the course of this week that prove crucial in deciding this game one way or another.

For Blackburn, their big loss comes in the shape of centre back Darragh Lenihan, who is set to be suspended for his side's next two games after picking up a tenth booking of the season in that stalemate with the Potters in midweek.

That could mean that with fellow centre back Derrick Williams out through injury and Charlie Mulgrew looking out of favour following his return from a loan spell at Wigan earlier this season, right-back Ryan Nyambe could be the man who is moved into a more central position to cope with the loss of Lenihan.

If that does happen, then 31-year-old Elliott Bennett could be brought back into an unnatural position on the right of Rovers' defence, something Swansea could look to exploit with the pace of Bersant Celina out wide, and the Kosovan should be more than ready to go this weekend having been an unused substitute at Fulham in midweek.

At the other end of the pitch, Swansea were hit with the news this week that centre back Mike van der Hoorn is likely to be out for the rest of the season with a knee injury, meaning they will have to see out the campaign with a young pairing such as Ben Cabango and Joe Rodon at the heart of their defence.

That is something Rovers could look to exploit on Saturday with the experience and physical presence of veteran striker Danny Graham, who has already scored against his former club once this season, in the reverse fixture at Liberty Stadium back in December.

But with Graham's goal only enough for a 1-1 draw in that match, and Blackburn's advantage in terms of both scoring and conceding across the season far from considerable, it would be no surprise if Saturday's game is another in the Championship this season, to be decided by the slenderest of margins.
